Objectives

The three main objectives of the Fair are:
1. to increase the public visibility of New Zealand businesses specialising in sustainability related products and services
2. to inform the public with up-to-date information on practical steps for reducing carbon emissions and living sustainably, through workshops and speakers
3. to provide an opportunity for increased networking for local, regional and national organisations that are already involved in promoting sustainability.

Purpose

Sustainable Living refers to the ability to meet our present needs without compromising the needs of future generations.

Studies show the New Zealand public is concerned about the implications of climate change and is motivated to make necessary changes in their lifestyle. However, most people are at a loss to know where to start. In part this is because they lack information about the large range of NZ entrepreneurs who offer products and services that could help them reduce their energy consumption. The Sustainable Living Fair is being held to bring information about these businesses and services to the public, in one place, where it is easily accessible.

More and more people are becoming aware of environmental issues and want to know how they can make a difference. The Fair aims to bring together the many options available to people so they can make a difference and choose a more sustainable way of life. It is also a way people can link up with local groups and others interested in sustainable living.

About us

A group of individuals who want to take positive action towards a more sustainable NZ have formed the Taranaki Climate Change Network. Members of this Network are organising the Sustainable Living Fair, with the support of the Positive Futures Trust.

New Zealand Positive Futures Trust is a Taranaki based trust formed to promote awareness of sustainable lifestyle choices and the development of technologies leading to New Zealand’s energy self-sufficiency and carbon neutrality.
